EHC performs mold
removal in both commercial and residential
buildings.
In some cases the contaminated area can be
cleaned by using commercial grade air
scrubbers, and HEPA vacuums without
destructive applications. These are
situations where the physical damage from
mold / mildew is not significant in a
building.
There are many different methods of dealing
with mold, however, just removing the mold
is not the only issue at hand, but the
source of the mold needs to be found and
dealt with. We take steps to not only
remediate the existing problem, but help you
find your source.
We do this using a step-by-step process...
1. Evaluation
It is vital to calculate the extent of the
damage caused by mold. Developing a sensible
project plan for clean up and mold
remediation in the first phase can greatly
decrease microbial growth and spreading
problems during whole process. This phase
may include indoor air quality testing or
other types of inspections to find the
reason for the mold growth.
2. Preparation
Removal of all items including furniture
from the infected area prior to setting up
containment. If items are moved from one
room to another they must be HEPA vacuumed,
and cleansed with mold inhibiting chemicals.
Extreme situations may require that all
items/furniture in the infected area be
cleaned under negative air pressure before
anything can be moved.
3. Containment
Sealing off the work area by covering floor
and door openings with polyethylene sheeting
prevents contaminants (toxic mold) from
spreading to the rest of the building.
4. Structural Removal & Cleanup
Removing, scrubbing, and sanding growth
areas on building materials such as drywall,
plywood, insulation, framing etc.. Removal
of damaged materials is executed under
negative air pressure through HEPA
filtration. Bagging and disposal of waste.
During this process EHC will use disposable
coveralls and respirators with HEPA filters
for protection against toxic mold. A
personnel decontamination area will be set
up to insure that the mold is not tracked to
other locations.
5. Anti-Microbial Application
Applying mold inhibiting chemicals to
exposed surfaces prevents the re-growth of
toxic mold. A remediation verification can
be requested at this point to approve the
accomplishment of the project.
6. Restoration
Providing reconstruction services. If
moisture is present dehumidification systems
are used until all exposed areas are dry.
New materials can then be installed,
restoring the area to its original, purified
state. Any causes found in the initial
evaluation may be remedied during this time
(this could include leaking pipes, leaking
walls, insufficient Air changes, etc.)
